The marshmallow-eating generation is the generation that mess up the United States according to Charles Wheelan. This generation just cares about making it to paycheck to paycheck. The United States government has reach of debt of $14 trillion in debt. The marshmallow-eating generation is going to bankrupt social security and medicare program. Now for the generation z is expected to pay up for the marshmallow-eating generation student loans and actions. Generation Z will have to pay their student debt and $47,000 each for the national debt. The marshmallow-eating generation refuses to confront current conflicts from environmental change, higher crime rates, and the use of drugs has increased. They also don't care that science is more powerful then thought. Like how smoking tobacco and cancer. The marshmallow-eating generation let's it happen. The United States government does not care about how it's citizens live but the United States governments intervene their daily lives by spying on them. They're barely protecting the environment. Who's going to pay the price? Generation Z. You may ask why am I repeating "marshmallow-eating generation". Let me tell you how it started. Experimenters sat some students (children) down at table and gave them assorted objects that their age would find appealing. The list is marshmallows, colored plastic poker chips, stick pretzels, and objects alike. Each child was offered an explicit choice that tested his/her impatient/patient decisions. The experimenter said "get a small reward now or a bigger reward later" then he walk out the room. He left a bell on the table if an impatient students rang the bell and they got a marshmallow or any treat they wanted. When the experimenter return inside the room and a small percentage of were students remaining who have not rang the bell were given a double treat. An additional study found that positive reinforcement shows how long students wait till they ring the bell and how impatient they are is high. This study also found that their ability to deal with stress and frustration was low during their teen years. A newspaper called the New York Times columnist David Brooks has said in the study mention above has noted that the marshmallow-eating generation has poor self control with foolish decisions like teen pregnancy, drugs, gambling, truancy and crime those problems extended to generation Z. At some point in everyone's life typically when they think back during their teen years they know they mess up. Is America losing the the patience for a better stuff? Will America politicians destroy the American values for their personal needs? All these questions are answered right in front of us. The children of America are taught their patience in school. When serval state laws went into a effect during the eighteen century that is when, the United States had the highest literacy rate in the world their United States was succeeding as a nation. When politicians weren't corrupt and high education was free. As soon politicians did what they wanted to do what was better for them or their company that was donating to his campaign that is when America was destroyed creating a bad future for the future generations like the baby boomers, marshmallow-eating generation X. Generation Z is part of a generation that is global, social, visual and technological. They are the most connected, educated and sophisticated generation ever. They are the up-agers, with influence beyond their years. They are the tweens, the teens, the youth and young adults of our global society. They are the early adopters, the brand influencers, the social media drivers, the pop-culture leaders. They comprise nearly 2 billion people globally, and they don’t just represent the future, they’re creating it.
Generation Z have been born into the crisis period of terrorism, the global recession and climate change. They are predicted to spend their young adult years in a time of economic and social renewal. They are also living in an era of changing household structures, and are the students of today and university graduates, employees and consumers of tomorrow. Generation Z is mess up due to the music that is influencing this generations youth and they are brain wash to do bad things leading to high incarnation rates due to the youth thinking that smoking weed and breaking the law is "cool". In my opinion I think the biggest problem within generation z is that how we are dependent how on technology. Every child and teenager in America is so dependent on technology they can't go a full day without using some form of technology. The list includes cell phones, iPods, gaming systems, and computers. Not only our dependence on technology impact our attention span but also our ability to write for example cursive is consider to be a losing handwriting tool since we could just use our electronic device to write in cursive. Also with writing in cursive our ability to spell common words like you and your are spelled like this u and ur. If this continues our writing ability will be impacted so much our education system will need a huge reform to catch up with this problem. The culture of generation z is also mess up due to a mass number of parents not recalling watching their children's actions. Also the current discipline standards at home and school are ridiculous that if you get in trouble your parents won't give you the disciplinary actions for the child to learn his or her lesson. That is causing a chain reaction since many teenagers have little brothers and sisters and they look up to their older brothers and sisters. Then they have impact in their lives by doing bad stuff. Then it continues and it will stop if they realize if it's stupid or not after all people or different and they won't follow the trends or do what they watch when growing up. Now who is it up to repair 2 generations damage? Cause certainly most people don't care about the future they are worried about now the present since that is how we were taught? Will my son or daughter repairing the damage of his or her grandparents and parents? I certainly don't think so they be suffering cause of us.

Marijuana legalization would reduce government costs and raise tax revenues, but opponents still worry over health and social issues. State governments facing massive financial debts might consider a rather unusual way to collect those debts through the legalization of drugs like marijuana and thereby ending the costly drug war. A study from the Cato Institute conduct by Jeffrey A. Miron, senior lecturer on economics at Harvard University, and Katherine Waldock, professor of economics at New York University, she estimates that legalizing marijuana would save the federal government approximately $41.3 billion annually on expenditures related to the enforcement of prohibition. Of those savings, $25.7 billion would givien to state and local governments, while $15.6 billion would given to the federal government.Miron and Waldock estimate that of that $41.3 billion in savings, about $8.7 billion would result from the legalization of marijuana alone. Marijuana legalization would translate into higher tax revenues generated by the sale of these newly-legalized products (ex. e-cigaters ) in the open commercial marketplace. Drug legalization would generate tax revenues of $46.7 billion annually, assuming legal drugs were taxed at rates comparable to those on alcohol and tobacco, they said. Approximately $8.7 billion of this revenue would result from the legalization of marijuana, $38.1 billion from legalizing all the other drugs. “Legalization would reduce state and federal deficits by eliminating cost on law enforcement arrests, prosecutions, and incarceration and by allowing governments to collect tax revenue on legalized sales, also it will bring the incarceration rate down”. Miron and Waldock said that “marijuana is already believed to be the United States number one cash crop, exceeding the total value of wheat and corn”. Weed is also the leading cash crop in at least a dozen states, including California and Colorado. The potential financial gains to be realized through the legalization of drugs would be of particular interest to the state of California, which not only it goes agaisnt with thousands of (illegal) marijuana growers, but whose state government also faces a budget shortfall of nearly $20-billion for fiscal 2012. According to a CNNmoney report In November of 2010, California voters voted for a ballot initiative Proposition 19 to legalize marijuana in the state. A similar law in 1996, California had passed a law to legalize medical marijuana). According to multiple newspapers sites, supporters of the California proposition 19 estimate that about $15-billion worth of marijuana is sold every year in the state, and state tax on the retail sales of marijuana would likely raise at least $1.3 billion a year in revenue.“Since California measure pass and generate the more then expwcted budgetary savings, other states would likely follow suit,” Miron and Waldock said. They also found that the legalization would produce far more cost savings than less decriminalization which would make appealing criminal penalties against simple possession, but retaining them against such acts as drug smuggling and selling. The financial impact of legalization would exceed those of decriminalization for three reasons, Miron and Waldock stated. “First, legalization eliminates arrests for drug trafficking in addition to arrests for simple possession , Second, legalization saves prosecutorial, judicial, and incarceration expenses these savings are less in the case of decriminalization. Third, legalization allows taxation of drug production and sale.”
